The follow on report builds upon our initial investigation into secure accommodation by further examining the experiences of children in secure care and assessing the progress made in addressing the identified issues. They focus on key areas such as ensuring children are meaningfully involved in decision-making, improving communication about their rights, and evaluating the implementation of the Secure Care Pathway and Standards. These reports also explore ongoing challenges within the system, including staffing shortages, funding limitations, and the impact of systemic changes, while highlighting examples of good practice and areas requiring urgent improvement to better uphold children’s rights and wellbeing.
