To mark the office’s 18th birthday, the three people to have held the role of Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland come together – for the first time – to discuss their shared experiences of promoting and protecting children’s rights. Guided by questions from children and young people, Professor Kathleen Marshall, Tam Baillie and current commissioner Bruce Adamson discuss the unique challenges of the role and its strengths as an independent champion for children’s rights.
This second episode explores the changes they’ve been able to make, and the challenges they have faced along the way.
The podcast was co-produced by John, one of the office’s young advisers. Music was created by young people from Lochside Academy, Aberdeen, working with Big Noise, Sistema Scotland. It was produced by Bespoken Media’s Amanda Hargreaves with sound design by Joel Cox.
This is a three-part series charting some of the progress of children’s rights in Scotland from 2004 to 2022. Listen to episode two below and be sure to check back with us as we release the others!
