An exciting job opportunity for a solicitor is on offer with the Children and Young People’s Commissioner’s office.

Children’s rights have evolved in Scotland with incorporation of the UNCRC. This role will require you to use your skills on cases that will shape the development of Scots law and drive systemic improvements in children’s lives.

Nick Hobbs, Head of Legal, said: “This is the most exciting legal job in Scotland right now. The UNCRC Incorporation (Scotland) Act 2024 placed our office at the cutting edge of children’s rights and strategic litigation. It gave us new powers to engage in litigation.

“We’ve already used the powers to great effect and we’re now looking at the next stage of operationalising those powers. So if you’re an experienced solicitor and you’re looking for a chance to use your legal skills to help develop a really exciting new area of law, and to drive real improvements in children’s human rights, then this might be the opportunity you are looking for.”

The role is full-time (35 hours a week) with a salary of £45,426-£54,166. For more information, a job description, and to apply.
