“Drive and demand change”— Commissioner travels to Highland Youth Parliament


Commissioner Bruce Adamson’s at the Highland Youth Parliament ’s annual conference today.

He’s leading a session on human rights with support from the Scottish Youth Parliament, tying into their  Right Here, Right Now campaign.

Quote from Commissioner Bruce Adamson: “Our session will focus on how young people can drive and demand change, by knowing and understanding their human rights. Once you know the rights you have as an individual, it’s easier to defend them and to stand up for other people’s rights too.”

At the session

At the session, the Commissioner will help young people understand how rights relate to issues affecting young people in Highland today, including:

  • support for young people’s mental health,
  • LGBTi issues,
  • issues around Additional Support Needs issues,
  • support and respect for care experienced young people,
  • sexual health, and
  • transport and connectivity.

The session runs from 2 until 4.
