Nick Hobbs, Acting Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, said: “Young people across Scotland will find out their exam results today – we’re wishing the best of luck to all those who sat National 5s, Highers, and Advanced Highers. Well done for all the hard work that you have put in over the years to get to this point.
“If today you did get what you were hoping for, congratulations. Enjoy this moment!
“If you didn’t get what you hoped for, please don’t despair. You might feel disappointed now but remember there are lots of ways to get to where you want to be. For example, if you wanted to do a university course and that now seems out of reach, have a look at accessing it through a college. There are lots of people and services out there who can help advise and support you.
“You have the right to education but that right isn’t just about the academic side of learning. It’s also about ensuring your mind, body, and talents are developed to their fullest potential. Your achievements go way beyond exam results. It’s important to remember that your education was disrupted by the pandemic, and Covid has also impacted lots of young people’s mental health.
“So, congratulations to everyone today and be proud of who you are and all of your achievements.”
