Celebrate World Children’s Day with the Commissioner at an interactive assembly with BSL interpretation

The image depicts the Earth with a thermometer, symbolising the issue of global warming or climate change. The thermometer is positioned vertically in the foreground, showing a high temperature reading, and there are clouds floating around the planet. This visual likely represents the rising temperatures and environmental changes associated with climate change.

Join the Children and Young People’s Commissioner to find out about climate change and children’s rights at a special online assembly.

Commissioner Nicola Killean and some young guests will take part in an interactive session, with BSL interpretation, on Wednesday, 20 November, which is World Children’s Day. Children can:

  • learn about the link between climate change and children’s rights
  • hear from other children who have created climate campaigns in their local area
  • feel inspired, and share their views with children across Scotland

World Children’s Day – the birthday of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) – is a celebration of children’s rights. In July, this human rights law for children became a part of the law in Scotland.

The Commissioner – who protects and promotes children’s rights in Scotland – has teamed up with e-learning service e-Sgoil to host this interactive assembly. It’s the first in a series of online assemblies for primary-aged children during this school year.

BSL users can watch this video to find out more!
